When do you need a crown — and which material should you choose?
A dental crown is a custom-made cap that completely covers a damaged tooth (or molar). Firmly fixed in place, it gives the tooth back its original shape, strength and function — for a natural result that is hard to tell apart from your own teeth. A crown is often recommended for extensive decay, a non-vital or weakened tooth, after root canal treatment, or when a crown needs to go on an implant.
Our material: zirconia with ceramic
We make our crowns from zirconia with a ceramic finish: a very strong zirconia base, covered with aesthetic ceramic. The result is both strong and natural, and blends in discreetly with your surrounding teeth. Zirconia is also completely metal-free — no dark metal line along the gum, not even after years. During the consultation we match the colour and shape to your smile.
How it works
Usually in 2 to 3 appointments: impression, making the crown in our own on-site lab, and then fitting. The whole process typically takes 10 to 14 days. First you receive a personal treatment plan with a clear price.
Crown on an implant
A crown can also be placed on an implant. Already have an implant, perhaps fitted abroad? Then we’ll make a matching crown for it — just send us the implant passport or the make and type of your implant. The crown costs from € 350; the abutment (the connecting piece) depends on the manufacturer and starts from € 180. For a new implant, see our page on dental implants.

When is a crown recommended?
Protecting a weakened tooth
After a large filling or a crack, the tooth becomes vulnerable. The crown covers it completely and protects it against fracture.
Improving the appearance

Restoring a badly damaged tooth
When a filling is no longer enough, the crown strengthens and restores the tooth and gives it its function back.

No. Our zirconia crowns are completely metal-free: a strong, tooth-coloured base with no grey metal line along the gum, not even after years.
How many appointments are needed?
Usually 2 to 3 appointments: an impression, making the crown in our own on-site lab and fitting it. The whole process typically takes 10 to 14 days. That way we keep quality and turnaround time in our own hands.
How long does a zirconia crown last?
With good oral hygiene and regular check-ups, a zirconia crown lasts many years. On crowns from our own lab we give a 5-year warranty subject to terms.
Is a crown covered by my insurance?
Do you have supplementary dental cover in the Netherlands or Belgium? Then you may get part of it reimbursed. You always receive an itemised invoice from us to submit to your insurer yourself.
Do I need to go abroad for this?
No. You get the same quality and a fixed price near Maastricht and Heerlen, without the long journey. And if anything ever needs adjusting, we simply do it close by — not abroad.
